Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Sherry Oldenburg is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with 22 years experience within the field of developmental disabilities. Sherry attended North Dakota State University, where she studied under the supervision of Dr. Raymond Miltenberger within the master’s level clinical psychology. Under Dr. Miltenberger’s advisement, she specialized in the areas of developmental disabilities and behavior analysis, participating in a number of research projects and practicum experiences. Sherry has co-authored nine publications in the areas of functional behavioral assessment, habit behaviors, challenging behaviors and sex abuse prevention training.
Following graduate school, Sherry worked in various settings providing behavioral services to children and adolescents with various diagnoses, who exhibited severe challenging behaviors and skill deficits. She served in a variety of roles within those settings including behavior analyst, program manager, and clinical supervisor.
In 2006, Sherry changed her career focus to autism. She worked for Fairfax County Public Schools as an ABA Resource Teacher/Coach, providing assistance and training to teachers in the areas of autism and behavior analysis. Through this experience, she
received intensive hands on training as well as consultative input from two experts in the field, Ron Leaf and Todd Streff. Following a military relocation, she began work as a subcontractor, providing intensive ABA services to children and adolescents with ASD.
Sherry is a member of the Association for Behavior Analysis International. She is also a military spouse and proud mother of 2 children, ages 6 and 2. She understands and respects the demands and stresses families can experience, especially those within the military. She is devoted to providing quality ABA services and spends a great deal of time learning about ABA best practices especially in the area of autism.

- If you joined the circus what would your job be?
I would probably be an animal trainer (although I hope animals are eventually removed from circuses).
- What is the most important part of your therapy session?
Monitoring programming to see if a child is benefitting.
- Cheesiest joke you know?
I can recall a total of 3 kids jokes. Here is one... Question: "Where does Santa stay when he goes on vacation?" Answer: "At a ho ho hotel!"

A tennis racket and ball
- What is your favorite part of your job?
I love all aspects of program design including research, development and implementation, but most of all I love seeing a child respond positively to our attempts to teach a skill. It's incredible.
